Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026. By using The Vault you agree to these terms.

1. Service Description

The Vault is an online streaming service providing access to public domain and Creative Commons-licensed classic films sourced from the Internet Archive. We do not host films directly — all content is streamed from archive.org.

Access to the full catalogue requires a paid subscription after a 7-day free trial. Some content may be available without a subscription.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and subscribe. By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

3. Subscriptions & Billing

Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annual) via Stripe. Your subscription automatically renews unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period.

A 7-day free trial is offered to new subscribers. You will not be charged during the trial. At the end of the trial, your chosen plan will begin unless you cancel beforehand.

You may cancel at any time from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then. No partial refunds are issued.

We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice. Price changes will be communicated by email before they take effect.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Download, copy, or redistribute any content from the service
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or bulk-download content
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Attempt to circumvent any access controls or security measures
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose
5. Content & Copyright

The Vault curates films that are believed to be in the public domain or licensed under Creative Commons. We make reasonable efforts to verify the copyright status of all content, but we make no warranties regarding the copyright status of individual films.

All films are sourced from the Internet Archive (archive.org). If you believe a film is incorrectly included, please contact us and we will review and remove it promptly.

Public domain status is determined under United States copyright law. Films in the US public domain may still be protected by copyright in other jurisdictions. You are responsible for complying with the laws of your own country.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may modify or discontinue the service at any time.

Film availability may change as copyright status evolves or as content is removed from the Internet Archive.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Vault and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms. You may delete your account at any time from your account page. Upon deletion, your watchlist and personal data will be removed from our systems within 30 days.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
